The Miyazaki mango plant (मियाज़ाकी आम) produces fruit with an unmistakably deep-red to purple skin and an intensely sweet pulp with Brix levels consistently above 15°. Originally from Miyazaki, Japan — where the fruit is nicknamed Taiyo no Tamago (Eggs of the Sun) — this variety commands prices of ₹1,500–₹4,500 per kg in premium Indian retail and export channels. For commercial farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra who want to differentiate from commodity mango varieties, Miyazaki aam represents a high-return alternative crop.
Unlike common desi mango varieties, Miyazaki grafted plants produce uniform, visually striking fruit that appeals to hotel chains, premium fruit exporters, and direct-to-consumer gift box markets. The market for premium mangoes in India has grown sharply in recent years, with Miyazaki at the centre of that demand. Farmers who plant in 2026 will come into production ahead of the next wave of growers entering this segment.
Miyazaki mango grows best in well-drained, deep loamy soils with a pH of 5.5–7.5. In Madhya Pradesh’s Malwa and Vindhya regions, the hot summers and mild winters provide ideal mango-growing conditions comparable to the variety’s native climate.
Recommended planting layout: 10 × 10 ft spacing gives approximately 435 grafted plants per acre. High-density plantations using 8 × 10 ft spacing can accommodate around 544 plants per acre but require more active canopy management from year 3 onwards.
Expected yield per acre (from grafted plants, fully mature orchard at year 5+): 8–18 tonnes per acre, depending on soil health, irrigation consistency, and post-harvest management. At premium market prices of ₹1,200–₹3,000 per kg, even a modest 5-tonne yield per acre in year 4 generates significant returns compared to conventional mango varieties selling at ₹30–₹80 per kg.
